Painting it is a commitment. Every balloon is its own shape with its own highlight and shaded side, and there are hundreds of them. People tend to work across the cluster in bands, and the sense of progress is unusually satisfying because you can see exactly how far you've come.

The house at the bottom is the reward: fine woodwork, a brick chimney, dark timbers under the porch, all in a small area after the long stretch of color above.

The 24-color version gives a brighter, more graphic result with the balloons reading as bold flat spheres. This paint by numbers design is a clear case for 36: each balloon depends on a light side and a dark side to look round, the sky deepens steadily from horizon to top of canvas, and those extra tones are what stop the cluster from flattening into a patchwork. We recommend the 36-color version for this design.
