Black and White Horse Paint by Numbers Kit

Where does the mane stop and the splatter start? A galloping horse crosses shallow water in this black and white horse paint by numbers kit, its mane and tail breaking into black splatter and white spray.

24 colors turns the splatter into bold, clean marks and keeps the coat in clear bands of light and shadow. 36 colors lets the coat and the neck move through softer steps, so the muscles along the shoulder and flank look rounder.

On the 16x20 in (40x50 cm) canvas the horse fills the center and right, with the mane and tail sweeping out toward the left edge. Accuracy pays off in the strands of mane and tail, the hooves and the flying drops of spray.

Behind the horse, the background is built from broad, streaky patches of gray, which keeps all the detail in the foreground.

A lively subject for a painter who enjoys loose, flowing shapes and a strong sense of movement.

We recommend the 24-color version for this design.

24 or 36 colors — which version?

It's simply how many different shades the design is painted with. The 24-color version has a clean, classic look and is a little easier to paint. The 36-color version adds extra shades for smoother blending and a more realistic finish. Both come with all the paint you need to complete your canvas — the number is about shades, not how much paint.
