Black and White Sailboat Paint by Numbers Kit

A sailboat heels so far into a wave that the whole scene tilts with it. Sails, hull and breaking waves fill the frame of this black and white sailboat paint by numbers kit, with a low line of mountains far behind.

With 36 colors the big sails keep their soft turn from white through gray to charcoal, and the spray at the bow breaks into finer gray steps. At 24 colors the sails and spray form stronger blocks of light and shadow with cleaner planes between them.

On the 16x20 in (40x50 cm) canvas the sails reach the top edge and the hull sits just right of center. Precision matters most in the rigging lines crossing the sails and in the spray bursting around the bow.

A canvas for someone who sails or simply likes a scene with movement, since sails, spray and clouds all pull along the same diagonal.

We recommend the 24-color version for this design.

• Step-by-step instructions
• Optional: Pre-stretched frame (ready to hang)

24 or 36 colors — which version?

It's simply how many different shades the design is painted with. The 24-color version has a clean, classic look and is a little easier to paint. The 36-color version adds extra shades for smoother blending and a more realistic finish. Both come with all the paint you need to complete your canvas — the number is about shades, not how much paint.
