Blossom and Ink

The rest is ink. Mountains fading into mist, pines along the water, wet rocks in the foreground, all of it in grays that go from near-white to charcoal. Getting the pale end right is what makes the distance work.

The blossom tree fills the right third and carries every warm tone in the design. Red, coral and white petals in clusters over dark branches, hundreds of small shapes, and the section that takes the longest.

Water across the bottom left is your easy stretch. Broad, pale, still.

The number in the version name means how many pots of paint are in the box. Twenty-four covers this design well, because the palette is narrow by design and most of it is one family of grays. The 36-color version adds twelve more, which gives the mist between the mountain ridges finer steps and separates the petal reds a little further.

24 or 36 colors — which version?

It's simply how many different shades the design is painted with. The 24-color version has a clean, classic look and is a little easier to paint. The 36-color version adds extra shades for smoother blending and a more realistic finish. Both come with all the paint you need to complete your canvas — the number is about shades, not how much paint.
