A Post-Impressionist spring orchard built entirely from thick palette-knife dabs — white blossoming trees against a turquoise ground, a pale house behind, mosaic-bright flowerbeds in pink, yellow and green.

Every inch is separate blocks of color, no blended areas at all. That impasto mosaic is the whole appeal, and the whole challenge: it reads like a stained-glass field of pure color.

Dense throughout, no flat rest anywhere. A long, absorbing project for someone who likes filling in a lot of small, distinct shapes.

The mosaic decides this at 36: the blocks shift constantly between turquoise, blue, violet, pink and yellow, and separating them cleanly needs the wider range. 24 would merge the neighboring tones and lose the stained-glass effect. We recommend the 36-color version for this design.
