Buddha Head Paint by Numbers Kit

The mood is stillness: closed eyes, a soft smile, and a terracotta halo behind the head.

Rows of tightly coiled curls cover the crown, a dark green leaf branch rises along the left edge, and this Buddha paint by numbers kit is built on a palette of clay, sage, and cream.

On the 16x20 in (40x50 cm) canvas the face and the terracotta halo hold the center, with sage and beige shapes curving around them. Suits a painter who likes a quiet, steady session, because the halo, the robe, and the sage shapes are wide, open areas.

Step up to 36 colors and the robe gains extra steps of rust and terracotta along each fold, while the skin picks up a softer shadow down the neck and shoulder. Stay with 24 colors and those folds settle into bolder bands, which gives the portrait a clean poster look and the whole canvas finishes sooner.

Each curl in the hair carries its own pale highlight arc, so the top of the head needs tidy edges, and the closed eyes and the soft line of the lips ask for the same attention.

We recommend the 24-color version for this design.

24 or 36 colors — which version?

It's simply how many different shades the design is painted with. The 24-color version has a clean, classic look and is a little easier to paint. The 36-color version adds extra shades for smoother blending and a more realistic finish. Both come with all the paint you need to complete your canvas — the number is about shades, not how much paint.
