Coffee Swirl

Small dots of orange, red and blue are scattered across the saucer like spilled sugar. They're the first thing you'll paint and the last thing anyone notices.

The cup is the centerpiece and the hardest part. Blue on the outside, curving from pale at the rim to near-navy in shadow, with a rim of white and a wash of red along the base. Inside it, a spiral of cream turning through gold into dark brown.

Behind it the whole canvas is movement. Ribbons of color sweeping outward against black, each one thick and separate, no blending between them. That section is fast and it's where the design gets its energy.

The two versions differ mostly on the cup. At 36 the porcelain curves properly and the coffee spiral reads as depth. At 24 the same cup becomes flatter and harder-edged, closer to street art, and the swirls behind it get correspondingly bolder.

24 or 36 colors?

The number is how many different colors the design is printed in. The 24-color version uses broader areas of solid color, so it goes faster and the finished painting looks bolder and more graphic. The 36-color version splits those same areas into finer steps, which gives softer shading and more depth, and takes longer to complete. Both use the same design and the same canvas size.

24 or 36 colors — which version?

It's simply how many different shades the design is painted with. The 24-color version has a clean, classic look and is a little easier to paint. The 36-color version adds extra shades for smoother blending and a more realistic finish. Both come with all the paint you need to complete your canvas — the number is about shades, not how much paint.
