This is the most painterly canvas in the range. Every surface is built from visible brushstrokes — the hair is loose ribbons of copper and teal, the flowers are strokes rather than outlines, and the background dissolves into dark blue and green marks that never quite settle into shapes.

That makes it a different job from a graphic design. There are no hard edges to hide behind. You're placing hundreds of small directional marks and trusting them to resolve into a face when you step back, which is exactly the appeal for someone who has painted a few kits and wants a real one.

Her face is where you'll want good light and an unhurried evening. The rest — the flowers, the shoulder, the swirling darks at the edges — is looser and more forgiving.

Finished, it belongs somewhere it can be seen from a distance. A living room wall, above a bed, a stairwell landing.

With 24 colors the portrait turns bolder and more stylized, closer to a graphic interpretation of the same image. But the whole character of this design is tonal: the skin runs from warm shadow through mid-tone to lit cheekbone across a few inches, the hair carries copper, russet, teal and near-black side by side, and every flower has three or four values inside a single petal. Without those steps the face flattens.
