Forest Stag

Almost every shape here is a flat layer laid over another flat layer, and that decides how the work goes: fill one band, move to the next, no color mixing anywhere on the canvas.

The stag paint by numbers kit stacks a cream sky, an orange sun, four ranges of green mountains and three depths of forest, with one deer standing in silhouette on a rock.

At 24 colors those layers stay clean and the silhouette look holds — this is the version the design was drawn for. At 36 the mist between the tree lines gets extra steps and the forest recedes more gradually.

The tree lines take the longest. Each one is a row of small pointed shapes, and there are several rows of them running the width of the canvas.

Green, cream and a single orange — it sits well with wood, and it is a straightforward one to finish for anyone who wants a calm project.

24 or 36 colors — which version?

It's simply how many different shades the design is painted with. The 24-color version has a clean, classic look and is a little easier to paint. The 36-color version adds extra shades for smoother blending and a more realistic finish. Both come with all the paint you need to complete your canvas — the number is about shades, not how much paint.
