Fox on the Ridge

Small animal, enormous view. The fox occupies maybe a tenth of the canvas and still holds it, because it's the only warm thing in a world of blue.

Most of the work here is mist and mountain — layered washes of teal and pale blue receding into cloud, spruce trees fading as they go back. Quiet, cool, and easy to live with in a bedroom or a study.

The scale also makes this a manageable paint by numbers project despite the size of the scene. Large soft areas of sky and slope fill quickly; the detailed work is concentrated in one small corner.

The 24-color version gives cleaner, more defined layers of mountain and mist, and moves along at a good pace. This design is a case for 36: the whole picture depends on close blues and teals separating one ridge from the next, and those in-between tones are what create the sense of distance. We recommend the 36-color version for this design.
