How much lamplight can one canvas hold? This one runs a lit street lamp, a row of glowing windows down the cliff and a low sun on the water, all in the same frame.

The coastal village paint by numbers kit is knife-painted, which means no surface is smooth. The cobbled path, the stone wall and the whole sky are made of small angular strokes, and the path alone climbs the full height of the canvas.

36 colors is what keeps the sunset working. The sky moves through orange, coral, lilac and blue in narrow bands, and the water repeats them as broken reflections. 24 colors turns that same sky into strong horizontal bands and the village into firmer blocks of ochre and terracotta.

The houses on the headland are small but repetitive: shutters, roofs and windows in the same few colors, which makes them slower than they look but not difficult.

24 or 36 colors — which version?

It's simply how many different shades the design is painted with. The 24-color version has a clean, classic look and is a little easier to paint. The 36-color version adds extra shades for smoother blending and a more realistic finish. Both come with all the paint you need to complete your canvas — the number is about shades, not how much paint.
