Sailboat Under the Sun Paint by Numbers Kit

The sails are the picture here: bands of rust, sand and sage sweep across them in the same colors as the sun, the clouds and the hills.

Teal waves, a terracotta sun and a handful of gulls frame the boat in this sailboat paint by numbers kit. On the 16x20 in (40x50 cm) canvas the mast reaches nearly to the top edge, with the sun at the upper left and the waves filling the bottom third.

For a painter who loves the sea but wants a warmer palette than the usual blue, teal and terracotta do the work here.

Rust, sand and sage swirl through the sails, the waves step from pale to deep teal, and 24 colors holds all of it along with the cream sky, sand clouds, olive hills and dark gulls. Each band is one flat tone with a clean outline, so the swirls on the sails stay separate and graphic.

Each swirled band on the sails and hull is its own shape with a curved edge, and the thin rigging lines and the gulls need a steady, careful line.

This design is available in the 24-color version only.

24 or 36 colors — which version?

It's simply how many different shades the design is painted with. The 24-color version has a clean, classic look and is a little easier to paint. The 36-color version adds extra shades for smoother blending and a more realistic finish. Both come with all the paint you need to complete your canvas — the number is about shades, not how much paint.
