Savanna Elephant Paint by Numbers Kit

An elephant walks straight toward you through tall savanna grass, ears spread wide and tusks catching the light. This black and white elephant paint by numbers kit sets it under a heavy, cloud-filled sky, with acacia trees and low hills in the distance.

On the 16x20 in (40x50 cm) canvas the elephant fills nearly the full height, feet near the bottom edge and ears spreading almost to each side. Dozens of fine ridges run along the trunk and around the legs, which makes this an advanced canvas that needs steady edges, while the cloud banks behind go in as broad, soft shapes.

Go with 24 colors and the clouds break into bold, graphic tiers from the white tusks to the darkest cloud, while the trunk ridges stand in firm steps. Step up to 36 colors and more middle grays arrive, so the clouds fade gradually and the shading across the ears stays soft.

A canvas for a painter who enjoys texture: skin, grass, and clouds each follow their own pattern. It also suits a gift for a wildlife fan who has painted before.

We recommend the 24-color version for this design.

24 or 36 colors — which version?

It's simply how many different shades the design is painted with. The 24-color version has a clean, classic look and is a little easier to paint. The 36-color version adds extra shades for smoother blending and a more realistic finish. Both come with all the paint you need to complete your canvas — the number is about shades, not how much paint.
