Six Doorways

The same arched doorway six times over, each one against a different colored wall.

Red on red, blue on ochre, teal on orange — the design is a study in what happens when you change nothing but the palette. It's the pop-art approach applied to architecture, and it hangs like a print rather than a picture.

Six panels also means six natural stopping points. You finish a doorway, put it down, come back to the next one. Nothing carries over between panels and nothing is spoiled by leaving it a week.

Suits a hallway or an entryway, where the subject matter does its own quiet joke.

The 24-color version fits the artwork as drawn: flat blocks of saturated color with hard outlines, no gradients anywhere, and a palette of six or seven strong hues repeated across the panels. 24 covers all of it. The 36-color set has more to give on canvases built around gradual shading. We recommend the 24-color version for this design.

24 or 36 colors — which version?

It's simply how many different shades the design is painted with. The 24-color version has a clean, classic look and is a little easier to paint. The 36-color version adds extra shades for smoother blending and a more realistic finish. Both come with all the paint you need to complete your canvas — the number is about shades, not how much paint.
