The 36-color version splits those same areas into finer steps, which gives softer shading and more depth, and takes longer to complete. Both use the same design and the same canvas size.

It's simply how many different shades the design is painted with. The 24-color version has a clean, classic look and is a little easier to paint. The 36-color version adds extra shades for smoother blending and a more realistic finish. Both come with all the paint you need to complete your canvas — the number is about shades, not how much paint.
