Not every landscape needs a hundred colors to feel big.

Everything here is built from hard-edged shapes — the sun is one clean circle, the sky is stacked bands of red and orange, the far peaks are wedges of blue. The foreground breaks into small angular facets of green and orange, and that's where the real work sits.

The painting order is satisfying. Sky first in wide sweeping blocks, then the ridges, then the shattered foliage along the bottom where you slow down and pick off one facet at a time. The figure himself takes minutes, but he's what holds the whole thing together.

It reads well in a hallway, a stairwell or a home gym — somewhere you pass rather than sit. It also suits a hiker who'd rather have the feeling of a summit on the wall than a photograph of one.

The 36-color set spreads the facets wider, giving the foreground shards more separate greens and rusts and adding steps between the sky bands. But this mountain paint by numbers was drawn for a tight palette: flat blocks, no blending, hard borders everywhere, and the drama comes from red sitting straight against navy with nothing in between. The 24-color set keeps those blocks big and the contrast undiluted, which is the whole point of the design.
