Water Lilies

Monet's water lilies at Giverny, from the Nymphéas series he painted in 1907 — an upright view straight down onto the pond, pink blooms scattered over dark green pads, tall willow reflections dropping vertically through violet-grey water. No sky, no bank, just the surface.

Nearly abstract. The whole canvas is soft, blended brushwork with no hard edges, the reflections and water reading almost as one shifting field of color.
